Anthrax Persistence of Time 30th Anniversary Deluxe Edition Available 8.21.20

The Persistence of Time 30th Anniversary Deluxe Edition is set for an August 21, 2020 release, exactly 30 years after its original release. Available exclusively on disc and vinyl, the CD package will include two CDs and one DVD, the vinyl edition will offer four LPs as well as revised cover art that reflects what had been the album’s original visual concept.

The 40-minute “guerilla-style” DVD was shot when Anthrax was on the “No Prayer on the Road” tour with Iron Maiden in 1991 and features live footage of Benante taking over the drums for Iron Maiden’s Nick McBrain, as well as backstage and dressing room footage with members of both bands. Enjoy.

KERRANG! Posehn Feature

KERRANG! calls Posehn’s Grandpa Metal the “Mona Lisa of Comedy Metal Albums.”

Grandpa Metal releases into the world on February 14th!

From the feature:

While discussing the massive guest stars included on his new album?—?among them Corey Taylor, Scott Ian, Dethklok’s Brendon Small and Exodus’ Steve?—?one can hear the awkward metalhead teenager in Posehn’s voice, wondering how he got any of these musicians to work with him.

Comedian Brian Posehn to Release Grandpa Metal

Megaforce is excited to release Grandpa Metal, by comedian and heavy metal fan Brian Posehn. Grandpa Metal will be available everywhere on February 14th, 2020!

“The original concept for this album came from bands like Scatterbrain and S.O.D., and even Cheech and Chong,” says Posehn. “They all made music that was fun and funny, heavy music that also made you laugh. I wanted this to be the ultimate comedy/metal record, a loving record that made fun of some of the things in heavy metal, so I called all my friends and asked for a bunch of favors. There’s a Satan song, and there’s a Viking song, there’s one song that sounds like Black Metal, and then there’s one that sounds like a Van Halen party song. The intention was just to make a funny metal/comedy record for people who like both of those things.”

Grandpa Metal is packed with cameos from legends in the metal world including Scott Ian (Anthrax) Joe Trohman (Fall Out Boy) Brendon Small (Dethklok) Corey Taylor (Slipknot) Michael Starr (Steel Panther) Johan Hegg (Amon Amarth) Gary Holt (Slayer) Kim Thayil (Soundgarden) Patrick Stump (Fall Out Boy), Chuck Billy (Testament) Steve “Zetro” Souza (Exodus) Jill Janus (Huntress) Rob Cavestany (Death Angel), and more.

AND…there’s a sick cover of A-ha’s Take on Me.
