Anthrax Persistence of Time 30th Anniversary Deluxe Edition Available 8.21.20

The Persistence of Time 30th Anniversary Deluxe Edition is set for an August 21, 2020 release, exactly 30 years after its original release. Available exclusively on disc and vinyl, the CD package will include two CDs and one DVD, the vinyl edition will offer four LPs as well as revised cover art that reflects what had been the album’s original visual concept.

The 40-minute “guerilla-style” DVD was shot when Anthrax was on the “No Prayer on the Road” tour with Iron Maiden in 1991 and features live footage of Benante taking over the drums for Iron Maiden’s Nick McBrain, as well as backstage and dressing room footage with members of both bands. The piece wraps with Benante, Bello, and Ian joining Iron Maiden on stage for the final song of the night, “Sanctuary.”

Albuquerque’s Metalhead Mayor Joined Anthrax on Stage

Albuquerque, New Mexico has a metalhead Mayor and he’s not shy about it. He’s been in attendance at numerous metal shows, often hopping on stage. The New York Times did a great piece on Mayor Tim Keller that’s worth reading. As the article states, he recently joined Anthrax on stage…

Channing Concho was in the crowd with hundreds of fellow headbangers for Anthrax’s sold-out concert this year at the El Rey Theater when something unusual unfolded before her eyes: the mayor of New Mexico’s largest city grabbed the mic.

“I was like, whoa, he doesn’t look like your typical politician,” said Ms. Concho, 31, the drummer for Suspended, an all-female melodic death thrash band based in Albuquerque. “It felt like one of those history-in-the-making moments. There’s our mayor in a black T-shirt with his fist in the air, and he’s just another Albuquerque metalhead.”

Tim Keller, the mayor of this city of 560,000 still struggling to emerge from a long economic slump, left some in the audience with jaws agape when he shouted above the shredding of Scott Ian, the Anthrax guitarist, “I believe in the power of metal!” (via NY Times)
